Policy statement
This policy statement applies to all shipping, freight forwarding, customs clearance and removals services provided by Interxfreight Ltd, 107 Georgiou Griva Digeni, Limassol 3101, Cyprus. It should be read together with your quotation or booking confirmation and our privacy statement. Last updated September 2026.
Our commitments to you
- Every quotation we issue is in writing, itemised where possible, and valid for the period stated on it. If a cost changes for reasons outside our control — fuel surcharges, currency movements, port tariff changes — we tell you before we book anything, not after.
- We keep you informed. When a sailing slips, customs select a container for inspection, or a delivery is delayed, we contact you the same working day we learn of it.
- Your cargo is handled by established carriers, port agents and clearing partners, and marine cargo insurance can be arranged on request before shipment.
- Duty, VAT and clearance charges are calculated on the figures and documents you provide. False or undervalued declarations are refused — we will not misdeclare cargo under any circumstances.
- Complaints are taken seriously. Contact us by phone, email or post and we will acknowledge within two working days and respond in full within ten.
Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate contact details and keep them current for the whole duration of the shipment, including a phone number and email answered while your goods are in transit or in storage.
- Supply documents required for customs clearance — proof of ownership, invoices, packing inventory, registration papers for vehicles — promptly when asked.
- Settle freight, customs and storage charges within the payment terms stated on your invoice. Cargo is released only once all charges are paid.
Vehicle and furniture sale policy for unresponsive customers
Vehicles, furniture and household effects left in our custody, in a warehouse, or at port after arrival occupy space we must pay for and, in the case of vehicles, may accrue daily port and storage charges for which we remain liable to third parties. This policy explains what happens when a customer becomes unresponsive. It is applied fairly, in writing, and only as a last resort.
1. When this policy applies
It applies when, after arrival of your goods in Cyprus (or at our origin warehouse), we are unable to reach you, or you decline or fail to settle the charges needed to clear and release your cargo, for a continuous period of 30 days or more.
2. How we will try to reach you
Before any other step, we will attempt to contact you by email, by phone, in writing to the address on your booking, and through any emergency contact you gave us — at least three separate times over the 30-day period, each attempt logged with its date and method. We will also notify any co-owner or consignee named on the shipment.
3. Formal notice of intent to sell
If the cargo remains unreleased and you remain unresponsive after 30 days, we will send a formal written notice of intent to sell or dispose of the goods to your last known email and postal address. The notice gives you a further 14 days to respond, settle the outstanding freight, customs, duty, VAT, storage and administrative charges, and arrange collection or delivery.
4. Storage charges
- A free storage period of 14 days applies from the date of arrival at destination or entry into our warehouse.
- After that, daily storage charges accrue and are added to your account: vehicles held at port are charged at the port's published tariff, and crated or palletised furniture is charged per item or per cubic metre as stated on your quote.
- Port, terminal and shipping-line storage imposed on us for unreleased cargo is passed on at cost.
5. Sale or disposal of the goods
If the notice period ends without a response, we may sell the vehicle or goods — privately, by auction, or to a trade buyer at the best reasonably obtainable price — or, where goods are worthless, hazardous or unsaleable, dispose of them. Sale proceeds are applied in this order:
- outstanding freight and port charges;
- customs duty, VAT and clearance fees;
- accrued storage and administrative costs;
- the reasonable cost of the sale itself.
Any surplus is returned to you within 30 days of the sale, on request and once your identity and ownership are confirmed. If proceeds do not cover the outstanding balance, the shortfall remains payable by you and we may pursue recovery.
6. Vehicles — additional points
- Vehicles are sold with whatever documentation is lawfully available. Registration or deregistration formalities in Cyprus are completed in line with Cypriot law, and we will cooperate with any lawful authority investigating ownership.
- Personal effects left inside a vehicle are treated as abandoned with the vehicle unless you collect them during the notice period.
- Vehicles left at a port may in addition be subject to the port authority's or shipping line's own lien and auction procedures, which can run in parallel and sometimes on shorter timelines set by them, not by us.
7. Settling at any time
You may stop this process at any point before the sale completes by contacting us and settling the outstanding charges. Once a sale has completed, it cannot be reversed; we will account to you for any surplus as set out above.
8. Records
Every contact attempt, notice, charge and step of the sale process is documented and retained. A full written statement of the charges and the sale outcome is available to you on request.
9. Your rights
Nothing in this policy removes rights you have under Cypriot or EU consumer law, or limits our liability under the terms of your booking. If you dispute the charges or the sale, contact us immediately — we will review the file and respond in writing. If you remain dissatisfied, you may refer the matter to the Cyprus Commissioner for Electronic Communications and Postal Regulation or the competent consumer protection authority, or take legal advice.
Questions
If anything in this policy is unclear, contact us before booking — we would rather explain it now than surprise you later.
